Sydney Zoo

MBM provided quantity surveying services for the construction of Sydney Zoo, a new $36 million zoological park destined to become a leading tourist attraction in the Bungarribee Precinct of Western Sydney Parklands.

Designed to harmoniously integrate with the expansive landscape of the surrounding parklands, the Eastern Creek-based Sydney Zoo features unique design elements that cleverly conceal enclosure boundaries within the natural environment. The design enhances the visual experience and allows visitors to safely and closely interact with a diverse range of animals while adhering to the highest standards of animal welfare.

MBM’s role in this ambitious project encompassed comprehensive value management, cost planning and estimating, tender reviews, management of progress claims, and provision of tax depreciation services. By seamlessly integrating our services into the broader project management framework, MBM helped facilitate a state-of-the-art zoo that not only serves as a recreational and educational hub but also as a benchmark in zoo design and sustainability.

The new privately operated zoo will feature over 30 exhibits showing popular zoo attractions from various regions around the globe as well as native Australian wildlife. It features elevated boardwalks over African grasslands home to lions, cheetahs, zebras, elephants, giraffes and rhinos; an underwater glass view facility for hippos, crocodiles and aquatic life; native Australian reptile and nocturnal animals house featuring leading exhibit design methods; and a native fish aquarium.
