MBM are proud to be working with the Ceduna Area School to meet the growing requirements of their students with additional needs. Based on the principles of inclusive teaching, the Special Education Unit project comprises a comprehensive refurbishment of existing facilities, alongside the construction of culturally enriching learning spaces. Our partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the development will strengthen the school’s ability to champion high-quality special needs outcomes for regional students, families, and the community.

The MBM team is contributing as a member of the Project Control Group where our input will achieve Ceduna Area School’s equal access opportunity goals. The team has ensured each unit enables collaboration, social interaction, passive supervision, and functional connectivity to maximise flexibility. Construction is expected to be completed by 2024.

MBM are providing a complete range of quantity surveying services from the concept stage through to construction in our role as the project’s cost managers. A concept cost plan has been tailored to the school’s design criteria and encompasses purpose built, high quality, versatile and contemporary learning facilities. Our experts are collaborating with the wider project team to ensure the three self-contained units can cater for up to 12 students and satisfy the future needs of the school.

The scope of services being provided by MBM includes:

  • Concept services and project budget estimate
  • Detailed design estimate
  • Pre-tender estimate
  • Value management
  • Construction and review services
  • Progress claims
  • Variation assessments

Rob Williamson, General Manager of MBM’s South Australian branch, noted “we are thrilled to be a part of the Special Education Unit project. MBM are looking forward to working with all stakeholders including Ceduna Area School, the Department for Education, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, and JPE Design Studio, on this exciting development.
